Valentino Rossi has won 7 premier class World Championships. He's scored 79 victories, taken 49 pole positions, and landed on the podium 139 times. But after The Doctor's dreadful 2011 season, his first ever without a victory, some started to speculate that the former champ was on the decline.
Jorge Lorenzo, who won the MotoGP championship in 2010 when he was Rossi's teammate, said that Rossi still has plenty of gas left in the tanks. Lorenzo says that if Rossi, 33, can figure out how to tame the Ducati He should be able to compete for race wins.
Lorenzo told the Superbike Planet:
"There is no age limit. Checa at 39 in superbikes is in top form. Valentino is 33; he hasn't weakened. Today in MotoGP there are many strong riders. To win, you need a great feeling with your bike."
Rossi is one of the older riders on the circuit. Lorenzo is only 24, Andrea Dovizioso is 25, and Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa are 26.
Do you think age is starting to play a factor in Valentino Rossi's performance?
