If the MotoGP wants to expand its global reach, they'll have plenty of options in the next few years. The championship is already scheduled to head to new tracks in Argentina and Texas starting in 2013, and India and Chile could soon be added to that list.
India has already built a circuit and has already hosted a Formula 1 race. Chile is still in the planning phase, but according to Crash.net, they have a trusted hand in Kevin Schwantz guiding them through the process.
Schwantz attended the official presentation of a proposed new Hermann Tilke-designed circuit in Chile this weekend and is working to negotiate a deal between the new circuit and the MotoGP. Schwantz was instrumental in getting the Texas track onto the MotoGP calendar and is hoping to do the same for Chile.
The circuit, called "Motorpark," will feature a motocross track, a kart track, and a MotoGP track. The track is currently awaiting environmental approval before construction begins. After the first stone is laid it will take at least 18 months to complete, meaning that a MotoGP in Chile won't happen until at least 2015.
India, on the other hand, could find its way onto the schedule as early as next year.
