The Ducati GP12 is being kept tightly under wraps. Only a few people have seen the bike and even less have had the chance to ride it. Yesterday, defending World Superbike champion Carlos Checa got his turn on the bike during a private session at Jerez.
No photographers were allowed inside the circuit to take a picture of Checa and the Ducati rider was asked to keep quiet about his opinion of the GP12. Checa did give a short statement on Twitter, but all he revealed is that the bike was working well.
Checa wrote:
"1st test this year recovering good feelings on bike, we are working well. I can't say so much, tomorrow more work. Ciaoo!"
Alex Briggs, a Ducati mechanic, gave a little more detail. Briggs wrote on Twitter:
"The test in Jerez is a major check and to get a base setting, for everything. The bike we all built is NEW... Ducati have done an awesome job in the time since Valencia test. The factory has been flat out & its not over yet."
Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden will get their chance to ride the new Ducati GP12 at the end of January at Sepang.
