Jorge Lorenzo became the first MotoGP rider to ride around the Buddh circuit in New Delhi today, and if he has his way, he won't be the last.
Lorenzo said earlier this week that India would be the next location added to the MotoGP calendar. It could be a few years away but it does look probable. Especially now that Lorenzo said he was impressed with the circuit.
"The track is very modern and wide," Lorenzo said. "I hope that MotoGP can race here very soon. I think it is quite prepared and ready to be on the calendar. I believe it will be exciting to ride with many overtaking opportunities."
The Buddh Circuit has already hosted a Formula One race and India is one of the fastest growing motorcycle markets in the world.
"It's been great to visit the Buddh circuit today," Lorenzo added. "The Indian people I have met have been very kind and gentle, I would like to see more of India in the future with more time; we didn't get to see so much in just two days here... I am looking forward to exploring the country and the entire MotoGP paddock wants a race to happen in India soon."
