Casey Stoner took the majority of the pole positions during the 2011 MotoGP season, and he added one more to his incredible total today at Valencia. Stoner took his 12th pole position of the season today, equalling a record set by Mick Doohan.
Stoner set a 1'31.861 laptime today in Valencia, claiming the front position one final time for the 2011 MotoGP season. Stoner's pace was too much for the rest of the MotoGP grid. The Repsol Honda rider took the pole position by a full second ahead of his teammate Dani Pedrosa and third place finisher Ben Spies.
Randy De Puniet missed the front row by .06 seconds. De Puniet will start row two ahead of Alvaro Bautista and Valentino Rossi.
Nicky Hayden will follow his teammate from row three.
American Josh Hayes, who will make his MotoGP race debut tomorrow, will start from the back of the grid.
