The MotoGP riders were never really able to get up to speed today during free practice at Valencia. Stoner led the morning session and Alvaro Bautista topped the timesheets during the second wet session of the day.
Bautista was followed across the line by Nicky Hayden and Randy De Puniet.
The track conditions deteriorated during the afternoon session and none of the riders were able to improve their times from FP1. Bautista, who led FP2 with a 1'47.975 lap time, was nearly two and a half seconds behind Stoner's pace from FP1.
Karel Abrams was the fourth fastest rider of the day, finishing ahead of Cal Crutchlow, Andrea Dovizioso, and Valentino Rossi.
Stoner finished 8th in FP2 ahead of his teammate Dani Pedrosa.
American Josh Hayes had an impressive MotoGP debut today. Hayes finished fifteenth on a slightly dryer track during FP1, and was able to break into the top 10 during FP2.
