Marco Simoncelli is dead. The Gresini Honda rider crashed during the penultimate race of the 2011 MotoGP season at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia.
The race was immediately red flagged as emergency workers rushed to Simoncelli's aid. Simoncelli was taken to the circuit medical center where responders tried to resuscitate him.
But despite their efforts, Marco Simoncelli was pronounced dead at 4:56 pm. The MotoGP race has been cancelled.
