The MotoGP riders head to Japan this weekend for the 15th round of the 2011 season. Casey Stoner continues to the lead the way, and with just four rounds left, Jorge Lorenzo will have to start adding some checks to the win column if he wants to challenge for the MotoGP championships.
Here are some stats for the Motegi GP.
- 2008 - The best lap, fastest poll, and overall circuit record were all set in 2008 by either Jorge Lorenzo or Casey Stoner
- 2007 - The last time Loris Capirossi was on the podium was in 2007 at Motegi.
- 1997 - The Motegi circuit was constructed by Honda in 1997 as a test facility.
- 400 - If a Spanish rider claims a victory this weekend, Spain will grab its 400th race win.
- 300 - If Casey Stoner can step on the podium this weekend, he will claim Australia's 300th premier class podium.
- 63% - Since his first race win last year in the 125cc class, Marc Marquez has won 17 of 27 races. Giving him an unbelievable 63% win rate.
- 33 - There have been 33 GP races in Japan. Motegi has held 12 races, Suzuka has hosted 19 races, and the Fisco Circuit has been used twice.
- 31 - Casey Stoner took his 31st win last week at Aragon. He is now tied with Eddie Lawson, 5th on the all-time winner's list.
- 25 - Valentino Rossi has scored points in 25 consecutive races. Rossi's record is 28 races in a row.
- 13 - This will be the 13th time a GP race has been held at Motegi.
- 12 - Stoner has strung together 12 consecutive podium finishes. Only Rossi, Lorenzo, Agostini, Doohan, and Rainey have put together more consecutive podium finishes.
- 10 - No one has ever scored 10 pole positions in a single MotoGP season. Casey Stoner could accomplish that feat this weekend.
- 9 - This will be the 9th time that Collin Edwards has raced in the MotoGP at Motegi. His best finish is 5th
- 9 - Valentino Rossi has scored 9 podiums at Motegi, including two race wins.
- 4 - In the four-stroke era, Ducati is the most successful brand at Motegi, taking four race wins since 2002.
- 3 - Three Japanese riders will be lining up on the grid in their home country. Hiroshi Aoyoma, Kousuke Akiyoshi, and Shinichi Itoh will all be racing this weekend.
