Casey Stoner set a new lap record during the qualifying session today at Aragon to take his 10th pole position of the 2011 MotoGP season. The Repsol Honda rider will be joined by his teammate, Dani Pedrosa, and Yamaha rider Ben Spies.
Stoner took the pole today with a 1'48.451 lap around the Spanish circuit. This is Stoner's fourth consecutive pole position.
Pedrosa made a last lap charge to take the top spot from his teammate, but Pedrosa ran off the track and had to settle for his 1'48.747 laptime that he set on his penultimate lap.
Ben Spies, who crashed in the morning session, was able to better his time by .4 seconds in the afternoon. Spies took the final spot on the front row ahead of his teammate Jorge Lorenzo.
Lorenzo will be joined by the two Hondas of Andrea Dovizioso and Marco Simoncelli, while Nicky Hayden rode the fastest Ducati for the day to land a spot at the top of the third row.
Karel Abrahama and Hiroshi Aoyoma complete row three.
Valentino Rossi had another bad qualifying session today. Rossi crashed early in the session and only managed a 13th place finish.
