MotoGP By The Numbers: Aragon

aragonThis weekend the MotoGP riders head to Spain for the 14th race of the season. Casey Stoner has a substantial lead at the top of the standings, but Jorge Lorenzo showed that the championship battle wasn't over yet with a fantastic win at San Marino.

Here are some statistics for the 14th round of the 2011 MotoGP season.

397 - At San Marino, a Spanish rider stood at the top of the box in all three classes. If Spain can do the same this weekend, they will become the second country in MotoGP history to win 400 races. Italy, which has a total of 732, is the only country with more than 400 wins.

150 - Colin Edwards will be making his 150th Grand Prix start this weekend. All of Edwards GP races have been at the premier level.

100 - Randy De Puniet will make his 100th Grand Prix start this weekend. De Puniet will be the first rider to reach the 100 race milestone.

95 - Spain has hosted 95 Grand Prix races. No country has hosted more GP races than Spain.

95 - Dani Pedrosa earned his 95th podium at Misano. Pedrosa is now equal with Mick Doohan, who has the 9th most podiums in MotoGP history.

38 - Jorge Lorenzo claimed his 38th GP win at Misano. He is now 11th on the all-time win list and the 2nd most successful Spaniard.

24 - Valentino Rossi's steak of point scoring races now stands at 24. Rossi has scored points at every race since his return from injury last year.

11 - Stoner has scored 11 consecutive podium finishes.

8 - Casey Stoner has taken the pole position 8 times this year. Only two riders have earned more pole positions in a season during the four-stroke era. Rossi took 9 pole positions in 2003, and Stoner took 9 in 2008.
