MotoGP: Rossi Beats Team-mate For Win

The conclusion of this weekend’s MotoGP race in Catalunya compares to a three-point shot at the buzzer to win the game and a home run in the bottom of the ninth. A grueling battle ended with Valentino Rossi overtaking team-mate Jorge Lorenzo in the last turn to win the MotoGP race in Catalunya.
Lorenzo beat out fellow Fiat Yamaha team-mate Rossi for pole position and the two dominated the entire race as they battled for first. Rossi beat out Lorenzo in the last turn of the race to finish .095 seconds ahead. A battle for second ensued as Casey Stoner, Ducati Marlboro rider, faced a difficult challenge from Andrea Dovizioso, Repsol Honda. Stoner finished third, and the Repsol Honda rider finished in fourth, .052 seconds behind Stoner, for the third round in a row.
An exceptional battle took place between Loris Capirossi, Rizla Suzuki, and Dani Pedrosa, Repsol Honda, with the Italian Capirossi winning the battle for fifth 2.351 seconds ahead of Pedrosa. Colin Edwards, Monster Yamaha Tech 3, overtook Randy de Puniet, LCR Honda, to finish in seventh. Ducati riders Mika Kallio, Pramac Racing, and Nicky Hayden crossed the line together taking ninth and tenth for Ducati.
At the end of this weekend’s race Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, and Casey Stoner share a total of 106 points per rider. Repsol Honda team-mates Andrea Dovizioso and Dani Pedrosa sit in fourth and fifth place with only two points separating them.
