In the morning warm-up, Casey Stoner set a new lap record at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In the afternoon, he upped his pace and set a 1'38.850 lap to claim the pole position.
Stoner hasn't had a podium finish at Indy yet, but he looked well ahead of the pack today during the MotoGP qualifying session. Stoner ended the day nearly a half second ahead of Ben Spies, who set the pole position in 2010.
Jorge Lorenzo will be starting from the final spot on the front row.
The Repsol Honda duo of Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso will start from the second row. Pedrosa was able to hold off his teammate by .07 seconds to claim the fourth place spot. Colin Edwards will join the two Hondas in the sixth place spot on the second row.
