Dani Pedrosa scored his first pole position of the 2011 MotoGP season today at BRNO. Pedrosa will be joined on the front row by Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner.
Pedrosa'1'56.591 lap time during the MotoGP qualifying session was good enough for the pole position, but it wasn't Dani's fastest lap of the weekend. During the first free practice session, Pedrosa set an incredible 1'56.328 lap time, which still hasn't been matched.
Jorge Lorenzo will be starting from the second spot on the grid. The reigning champ dropped 4 tenths from his previous best to move within .13 seconds of Pedrosa's pace. Stoner will start from the final spot on the front row, ending the qualifying session .26 seconds behind the pacesetter.
Ben Spies will start row two. Spies made his first career front row start in 2010 at BRNO, but he missed the front row by one position this year. Spies will be joined by Marco Simoncelli and Valentino Rossi on the second row.
Rossi's sixth place position is his best qualifying result so far this year.
Andrea Dovizioso, Colin Edwards, and Nicky Hayden will start from row three.
