Jorge Lorenzo finished today's final free practice session in third behind Dani Pedrosa and pacesetter Casey Stoner, but the Yamaha rider's weekend could be in jeopardy as he recovers from a massive highside at the end of FP3.
Lorenzo, who went out for one last lap during the final free practice session, lost control on turn five and was bucked off of his Yamaha M1. The bike did a few tumbles before it landed beside Lorenzo in the gravel. The 2010 champ, who pulled to within 15 points of season leader Casey Stoner at Sachsenring, limped off the track to the medical center with the help of a few marshalls.
If Lorenzo isn't at 100% for the qualifying session this afternoon, Stoner will likely get his biggest competition from his teammate Dani Pedrosa. Pedrosa
finished the session just .017 seconds behind the pacesetter.
Marco Simoncelli put another Honda into the top four before Ben Spies brought his Yamaha across in fifth.
The Ducati team showed a big improvement during the final free practice session, moving up from the 10th and 11th place spots in FP2 to 6th and 7th in FP3. Nicky Hayden lead his teammate Valentino Rossi around the track as both Ducati's placed within a second of Stoner's pace.
