Lorenzo Ups the Pace in FP2

Jorge_Lorenzo_close_upJorge Lorenzo claimed the top spot during the second free practice session at Laguna Seca during the 10th round of the 2011 MotoGP season. Lorenzo beat out a pack of Honda riders, as the Repsol Honda team claimed spots 2 through 4.

Dani Pedrosa was able to get closest to Lorenzo's pace, but came up .14 seconds short of Lorenzo's 1'22.056 laptime. Stoner was another .17 seconds back, while Dovizioso finished .48 seconds off of Lorenzo's pace.

American Ben Spies took the fifth place spot .7 seconds behind his teammate. Spies was the final rider to finish within a second of Lorenzo's pace.

Marco Simoncelli beat out Alvaro Bautista and Randy De Puniet for the 6th place spot, while Americans Colin Edwards and Nicky Hayden completed the top 10.

Valentino Rossi continued to struggle during FP2. The Ducati rider finished just behind his teammate in 11th, 1.3 seconds off of the pace.

Wildcard Ben Bostrom seemed a little bit more comfortable during the second free practice session. Bostrom was still four seconds off of the pace, but the American was able to shave more than a second off of his time from FP1.
