The MotoGP heads to Mugello this weekend for the 8th round of the 2011 MotoGP season. The Mugello circuit has a long history of MotoGP racing. Here are some statistics about the Italian circuit.
2000 - If Jorge Lorenzo finishes in the top 10, he’ll become the 10 rider in the history of the MotoGP to score more than 2000 points in his career.
1974 - The Mugello circuit was built in 1974.
216.85 - Dani Pedrosa hit 216.85 mph down the .7 mile straight at Mugello in 2009 during a free practice session. It is the fastest speed recorded at Mugello for a MotoGP bike.
35 - The first 500cc GP race was held at Mugello 35 years ago. Barry Sheene won the race ahead of Phil Read by .1 seconds.
15 - For the last 15 years, there has been an Italian rider on the podium at Mugello.
20 - Loris Capirossi has raced at Mugello for 20 consecutive years. Sadly, Capirossi will end his remarkable streak this weekend.
7 - Valentino Rossi won 7 consecutive times at Mugello from 2002-2008. Rossi had a podium in 2009 and did not race at Mugello in 2010 due to his broken leg.

The MotoGP riders will hit the track for their first free practice sessions tomorrow. The race will be held on Sunday.
