Dani Pedrosa will return to racing this weekend as the MotoGP enters the 8th round of the 2011 racing season at Mugello.
Pedrosa fractured his collarbone during a crash at Le Mans on My 15th. The Repsol Honda rider has missed the last three rounds of the MotoGP, and has dropped from the main title contender to 6th in the overall standings.
Pedrosa posted on his blog this morning that he was ready to return to Mugello. (Here’s the message from Dani, translated with the help of Google.)
“I have wanted to say for weeks that I can return to racing, and now I finally can. These weeks have been difficult, but I knew I had to focus on recovery if I wanted to return at my best. As I said last week, Mugello was the goal and it is the only thing I think about right now.
“I'm going to Italy eager to ride the bike. I have really wanted to see the whole team. At the end of the day we are a family.
“In terms of recovery, the truth is that things have improved dramatically since I had the operation. The issue has been taken care of and doctors confirmed the recovery last week. Now I need to see how I feel on the bike during a race.”
The MotoGP season isn’t even half way over yet. If Pedrosa can return to the championship with good results, he could potentially find himself back in the title hunt by the end of the year.
