The Yamaha factory team has followed suit with Ducati and Honda and will not test their 2012 prototype during the test week after Mugello. Yamaha announced today that it will wait until after the BRNO round to bring out the 2012 machine.
Honda, Ducati, and Yamaha were all scheduled to use their 2012 machines at the testing session after Mugello, but all three companies have decided to postpone testing the new machines.
Yamaha said that it needed "further time for the development of the bike" before they would be ready to test. Yamaha has scheduled a new testing date for mid August after the BRNO round.
When Yamaha does test the 2012 prototype, both 2010 MotoGP Champion and Assen winner Ben Spies will be on hand to give the team feedback.
The MotoGP teams were given 8 days to test the 2012 machines this year. Ducati has already used up five of their testing sessions and Honda has used up two. The test after Mugello would have been Yamaha's first test with the 2012 machinery.
