After 25 Races, Jorge Lorenzo Reflects On His Position in the MotoGP

lorenzo_and_doviziosoJorge Lorenzo has had a pretty good run at the top of the MotoGP world. For the first time in 25 races, Lorenzo failed to finish in the top four. Lorenzo’s DNF at Silverstone handed the championship lead to Casey Stoner and gave the 2010 champion a slight reality check.

Lorenzo posted a message to his Facebook page, saying that it’s been a long time since he’s tasted defeat. But all in all, Lorenzo is optimistic about his DNF, saying that it has relieved some pressure off of him.

Here is the Facebook post. (Translated, roughly, with the help of Google. You can read the full post here.)

“Yesterday ended an incredible streak of 25 races where I finished in the top four. Truth is, it has been a long time since I’ve felt this dissappointment. The last time was in Australia in 2009. I almost do not remember it... At Silverstone, I was concentrating to fight for the win despite the rain.

“I feel terrible for the team who had such high hopes for the race. I feel bad for the Fan Club that came out despite the weather.  I hope that they do not give up on me because we will keep fighting to succeed and we will fight for the title.

“There have only been six races so far. There is still plenty of time.

“If there is something positive to take away from Silverstone, it is that it has relieved some pressure from us. Now it is all on Casey. Stoner is now the rabbit being chased by grey hounds...”

Lorenzo ends his post (after talking about a Linkin Park concert he attended) with his best and worst moments of the weekend. Lorenzo says that the best moment was when Colin Edwards stepped up to the podium.

“He really deserved it, after his injury,” Lorenzo said.

For the worst moment, Lorenzo obviously picked his crash.

“I didn’t wait for the right time to pass Dovizioso,” Lorenzo said.
