The MotoGP could see six new riders from six new teams lining up on the grid in 2012. The FIM announced today that they are extending contract offers to six teams for the 2012 MotoGP season.
Here is the statement from the FIM:
Applications from new teams for this class exceeded the likely number of places available. Following the selection procedure it has been decided to offer additional contracts of participation with IRTA to each of the following teams all of whom currently participate in other classes of the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix:
- BY QUEROSENO RACING
- FORWARD RACING
- KIEFER RACING
- MARC VDS RACING TEAM
- PADDOCK GP RACING
- SPEED MASTER
The FIM noted that each of these 6 teams will only have one rider. Also, each of the six teams above still have to submit “their final plans”. The MotoGP will make their final decision after reviewing that proposal.
The teams participating in the 2011 season already have their spots secured for 2012.
