Pedrosa Won’t Rush Recovery

dani_pedrosa_collarbone_surgeryUp until the French GP, Dani Pedrosa had been on the podium at every event of the 2011 MotoGP season. A crash at Le Mans fractured Pedrosa’s collarbone and dropped him down to third in the overall standings.

Pedrosa has 10 days to recover before Catalunya, which may not be enough time for the Repsol Honda rider. Pedrosa says that it’s possible, but he isn’t going to rush his recover.

Pedrosa had surgery last Wednesday and will begin his rehabilitation later this week.

"It's been a quiet few days since last week's surgery,” Pedrosa said. “I was told I had to fully rest for a week so I'm staying at home following the doctor's advice. From experience, I know I have to focus on recovering, the priority is to be back to fitness and recover as well as possible from the injury so I can ride again. Obviously it would be great if I could do that in Barcelona, but then again I can't rush it."

Pedrosa has been dealing with injuries throughout the 2011 season. Before the Le Mans GP, Pedrosa said that he was finally getting back to 100% health. Pedrosa had surgery in April to remove pins from his collarbone.

Pedrosa will begin rehab on Wednesday, but won’t make a decision about the Catalunya GP until next week.

"On Wednesday I'll start working with physios and we'll have to assess on a daily basis the injury and see how my collarbone improves day after day.”

Pedrosa is currently third in the overall standings, 17 points behind season leader Jorge Lorenzo and 5 behind his teammate Casey Stoner. Pedrosa could fall behind Nicky Hayden, Valentino Rossi, or Andrea Dovizioso if he does not compete at Catalunya.
