Today, Valentino Rossi got a little taste of Ducati’s future. Rossi was able to take Ducati’s GP12 for a test ride around the Jerez track.
Here’s a video from Ducati about Valentino Rossi’s testing session with the next generation of the Ducati Desmosedici, the GP12.
Since the GP12 will not be used in MotoGP racing this year, the Ducati team was allowed to take it out for a test session. The Ducati team will take the GP12 out more time tomorrow for another testing session.
Nicky Hayden was also on hand for the testing session.
"That rossi guy I was talking bout looks pretty good out there," Hayden said. "He might have future at this stuff if he stay wit it. keep a eye out 4 him."
Hayden also said that Rossi's lap times were pretty impressive, but did not leak any other details.
After the test, Rossi said that he was very happy with the GP12.
“I’m happy,” Rossi said. “I like the GP12. In my opinion, it’s more enjoyable, more fun to ride. It was the first time we had it on the track, so we had some work to do, but the engine is nicer. It’s a lot of fun, and you can do some nice slides. It’s the bike we’ll ride next year, so it was very important—and also very nice—to be among the first to take it on the track.”
Nicky Hayden will get his shot at riding the GP12 tomorrow.
