Afer Successful Surgery, Pedrosa Has Limited Time to Recover

Dani_Pedrosa_Shoulder_InjuryDani Pedrosa is off to a pretty good start in 2011. Pedrosa has been the runner-up at both the Qatar and the Jerez MotoGP races, and is currently second in the standings behind Jorge Lorenzo. But Pedrosa could have a tough time keeping his momentum going. Pedrosa just had surgery on his shoulder in Barcelona, and although it was successful, he'll have less than a month to get ready for the next race in Portugal.

The Repsol Honda rider had surgery in Barcelona last night at the Teknon Medical Center to decompress his left subclavian artery, which was causing his arm to go numb. Pedrosa had a titanium plate and screws fixed to his collarbone during his last surgery. The titanium plate and screws had to be removed to decompress the artery.

Pedrosa will spend 48 hours in the hospital before he is released. The Repsol Honda rider will have to wait a week until he can talk to doctors about a rehab program.

Pedrosa does have a decent amount of time to recover from his surgery. The next MotoGP race isn't until May 1st, which gives the Repsol Honda rider about three and a half weeks to recover.
