MotoGP Decides to Postpone Japan GP

motogp_logoYesterday, the MotoGP announced that they would do whatever was in the best interest of Japan in regard to the third round of the 2011 MotoGP season. The FIM has just decided to postpone the Japan GP, which was originally scheduled for April 24th.

The organizers of the Japan GP requested to have the race in Japan postponed, which the MotoGP was happy to do. In the wake of the devastating tsunami and earthquake that occurred earlier this week, there is no way that Japan would have been ready to host a race.

Japan is still scheduled to host a race this year, but it won't be until October. The FIM has reschedule the Grand Prix in Japan for October 2nd.

Here is the revised MotoGP schedule.

  • March 20th Qatar (Losail)
  • April 3rd Spain (Jerez)
  • May 1st Portugal (Estoril)
  • May 15th France (Le Mans)
  • June 5th Catalunya (Catalunya)
  • June 12th Great Britain (Silverstone)
  • June 25th Netherlands (Assen)
  • July 3rd Italy (Mugello)
  • July 17th Germany (Sachsenring)
  • July 24th United States (Laguna Seca)
  • August 14th Czech Republic (Brno)
  • August 28th Indianapolis (Indianapolis)
  • September 4th San Marino & Riviera di Rimini (Misano)
  • September 18th Aragón (MotorLand)
  • October 2nd Japan (Motegi)
  • October 16th Australia (Phillip Island)
  • October 23rd Malaysia (Sepang)
  • November 6th Valencia (Ricardo Tormo – Valencia)
