James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto. Ryan Villopoto and James Stewart. The two top riders continue to alternate victories during the 2011 Supercross series as James Stewart takes the win in Anaheim, his third win of the 2011 season and his second consecutive win. Stewart extends his lead over Villopoto, but only slightly. Villopoto's second place finish at Anaheim keeps him within 5 points of the season leader.

Stewart, who was decked out in pink gear for the second annual race for a cure, rode a near perfect race to earn a victory by more than 4 seconds. It was Stewart's 8th win at Angel Stadium.

"I am so proud of everyone on my team for making this happen," Stewart said. "It's awesome to come here and win in front of a sold-out crowd here at Angel Stadium. I am out here racing against the best guys in the world, so this is never easy."

Villopoto did all he could to keep up with Stewart, but the Team San Manuel Yamaha rider was just too fast last night in Anaheim.

"The track was slippery tonight, but I had to ride hard and ride smart," Villopoto said. "I've learned from a few mistakes I have made this year, so I am happy to finish second and move on to next weekend's race in Houston."

Ryan Dungey, who was in third place heading into the event at Anaheim, dropped down to fifth in the overall standings as he wasn't able to score any points last night. Dungey broke his chain, and was forced to call it quits on the ninth lap.

With Dungey out, Chad Reed, Justin Brayton, and Andrew Short began a battle for the final spot on the podium. Reed was able to claim his second podium finish in a row, and moved up to third in the general standings, 27 points behind the season leader.
