Valentino Rossi has the track to himself at Misano today, as he tests the physical strength of his shoulder. Rossi and his Ducati team will be taking a few laps around the Misano track today aboard the Ducati 1198, to make sure that Rossi's shoulder is ready for the MotoGP testing session at Jerez.
Rossi and his team are using the Ducati 1198, a non-MotoGP machine in order to comply with MotoGP testing regulations. The Ducati team tested the GP11, the MotoGP bike, without Rossi last week in Jerez.
"We worked on ride height, seat position, and on many aspects of bike set-up that will help with all of the data-acquisition work that are necessary to be ready for Malaysia, when Vale and Nicky will ask us to change the bike in various ways," said Vittoriano Guareschi. "It’s a refinement process that will proceed for the two days in order to speed up the factory riders’ work in Malaysia.”
With the Ducati team concentrated on the bike, Rossi needs to concentrate on his shoulder. Rossi had shoulder surgery in November. He will get a chance to ride the GP11 on February 1st and 3rd at the Sepang test, where he will see if his shoulder is up for the rigors of MotoGP racing.
