Stoner Takes Australian Victory

motogp_stoner3On the Australian track at Phillip Island, it's nearly impossible to beat Casey Stoner. For the fourth straight year, Stoner has won the MotoGP race at Phillip Island. Stoner beat out Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi for his third win in the 2010 MotoGP season.

Stoner started from the pole position, his third this season, and led for the entirety of the race. Stoner crossed the line nearly nine seconds ahead of the MotoGP champion, Lorenzo.

Lorenzo also had a significant amount of space before the third place finisher, Valentino Rossi. Rossi finished nearly 10 seconds behind Lorenzo, and 19 seconds ahead of the race winner.

The battle for third came down to the wire, however, as Rossi was only able to edge out Nicky Hayden by .038 seconds.

Ben Spies took fifth place, and was followed by rookie Marco Simoncelli and teammate Colin Edwards.
