Lorenzo Takes Third Victory of Season at Silverstone

motogp_lorenzoJorge Lorenzo was the favorite going into the AirAsia British Grand Prix at Silverstone, and Lorenzo lived up to the hype, winning his third GP of the season by more than six seconds.

Lorenzo, who started from the pole position, led for almost the entire race, gradually increasing his lead to a comfortable 5 seconds by lap seven. When Lorenzo crossed the checkered flags, he was 6.74 seconds, and 37 points, ahead of his nearest competitor, Andrea Dovizioso.

Dovizioso got his fourth podium finish of the season with his second place finish. It was his best result so far this season. American Ben Spies also had his best outing of the season. Spies took his first MotoGP podium at Silverstone, narrowly beating out Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner, who finished in fourth and fifth respectively.
