The Fiat Yamaha team may be missing the legendary Valentino Rossi, but Jorge Lorenzo is making sure that they don't miss a step. Lorenzo captured his first pole position of the 2010 MotoGP season today during a hectic qualifying session at the Silverstone track. Lorenzo set the fastest time at the British Grand Prix today, with a 2'03.308 time. Lorenzo, who leads the series, was just .126 seconds ahead of Randy de Puniet. Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa finishes off the front row with a third place finish. Both Puniet and Pedrosa had to be helped off the track at the end of the day, as both riders took a tumble at the end of the session.
Pedrosa's teammated, Andrea Dovizioso, will start the second row on the grid, followed by Ducati teammates Nicky Hayden and Casey Stoner, who finished fifth and sixth.
American Ben Spies had a solid showing with a seventh place finish at the qualifying session at Silverstone.
