The grid is set for the MotoGP race on Sunday for the Monster Energy Grand Prix, and World Champion Valentino Rossi has earned the pole position. Season Leader Jorge Lorenzo will start just behind Rossi, with Dani Pedrosa finishing off the front row of the grid. The MotoGP qualifying session saw many riders take their fastest laps in final ten minutes. Rossi set his winning time of 1'33.408 with just two laps to go in the session. Rossi claims his first pole position of the season, and his first pole position at Le Mans since 2005.
Lorenzo's finish, just .05 seconds behind Rossi, gave the two top spots to the Fiat Yamaha team. Pedrosa was consistently fast around the track, claiming the third position on the grid.
