Toni Elias had a fall at the final pre-season test at Jerez that injured his ankle and hand. With just a few days until the Gran Premio bwin de Espana, the Gresini Racing Moto2 Rider acknowledges that he will not be completely ready physically, but Elias will still give it his all around the track. “The foot has recovered as expected but I still have pain in the hand, because it’s a very delicate area. So I’m not going to Jerez completely recovered, I’ll be more or less at 70%,” Elias said.
But the Jerez track will work in favor of Elias this weekend. The track doesn’t require any extreme turns to the left, so Elias won’t have to put too much pressure on his injured hand. Besides the track, Elias is counting on his fans to help him through the race.
“I’m sure the fans will do the rest. And although they won’t find me in my top physical condition, if I have the opportunity to fight for the victory I will do my best.”
Elias placed fourth in the opening round of the Moto2 season at Qatar, and was impressive around the track in Jerez during the pre-season.
“Looking at the results we achieved in the pre-season Tests, we should be optimistic here. We saw our potential and we are capable of anything. The only thing holding us back is my injury which doesn’t allow me to ride at my best level. I hope the fans continue with their support and that I can give them a good result in return.”
