Redding Steals FP1 From Smith

redding_indyBradley Smith was out in front during the opening free practice session for the Moto2 class Indy up until the final seconds, but Scott Redding stole the top spot with a 1'46.689 lap time.

Redding beat Smith's leading time by more than a half second at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Marc Marquez could have made an attempt for the top three but the team CatalunyaCaixa Repsol rider crashed out with a few minutes remaining.

Randy Krummenacher was able to hold onto the third place spot while Marquez settled for fourth. Claudio Corti took the fifth place spot while Mattia Pasini, Simone Corsi, Aleix Espargaro, Ricard Cardus, and Esteve Rabat, completed the top ten.

Kenny Noyes was the fastest American on the Moto2 grid. Noyes finished in 11th, one spot ahead of AMA Superbike rider Martin Cardenas.

JD Beach, who is also taking a break from the AMA to try his hand in the Moto2, finished in 34th.
