Iannone Wins a Wet Race in Jerez

Iannone_JerezThe wet track didn't seem to bother Andrea Iannone as he rode to his first victory of the 2011 Moto2 season. Iannone was joined on the podium by Thomas Luthi and Simone Corsi.

Iannone claimed his fourth career Moto2 win by more than 7 seconds ahead of Luthi. Luthi led at the beginning of the race, but once Iannone got the advantage, there was no catching him.

Simone Corsi, who started from 18th on the grid, rode a fantastic race to cut through the pack as rain fell on the Spanish circuit. Corsi was able to climb up to the final spot on the podium, but was unable to match the speed of Luthi or Iannone.

Qatar race winner Stefan Bradl started from the pole position, but had a little trouble controlling his bike on the wet track. Bradl dropped down to the middle of the pack, and had to fight his way back into fifth place.

Bradl's fifth place finish puts him into a tie for second with Luthi, as Iannone now leads the Moto2 championship with 45 points.
