Thomas Luthi took the top spot on the time sheets during the first free practice session for the Moto2 in Jerez, and even though he couldn't stay on top during FP2, Luthi's time remained the fastest for Friday.
The Moto2 riders had a difficult time during FP2, as strong winds prevented most of the grid from bettering their times. The one rider who did do considerably better was Yuki Takahashi. Takahashi's first free practice session was limited due to a crash, but he bounced back to take the top of the top spot during the afternoon session. Still, Takahashi's best time during FP2 was nearly a second slower than Luthi's pace.
Stefan Bradl, who won the opening Moto2 race in Qatar, was the runner up to Luthi today in Jerez. Bradl finished ,3 seconds behind Luthi in the morning session. Alex De Angelis was the third fastest today, .6 seconds behind the leader.
Simone Corsi and Mika Kallio completed the top 5.
