Rain Cuts Moto2 Testing Short

moto2_jerezThe Moto2 testing session in Jerez today was basically over before midday. Heavy rains hindered the riders progress, and only three riders ventured out onto the track during the afternoon session.

Tom Luthi set the best lap of the day during cool but sunny conditions in the morning. Luthi's lap time of 1'43.802 was more than a half second faster than the 2010 pole position time set by Shoya Tomizawa last year.

By the time the rain arrived, Luthi was .139 seconds faster Scott Redding. Redding, Yuki Takahashi, Stefan Bradl, and Jules Cluzel all finished within 1 second of the lap leader, but were unable to close the gap once the rain started coming down.

The 125cc class also took to the track today. Nico Terol scored the best time of 1'49.168 during the morning session, but like the Moto2 riders, was not able to better his time in the afternoon. Maverick Vinales, Johan Zarco, Jonas Folger, and Efren Vazquez were the fastest riders in the morning session, and the only riders to finish within a second of Terol.
