The final weekend of the 2010 Moto2 season at Valencia should be a thriller, as Julian Simon and Andrea Iannone battle for second place. Toni Elias has already captured the 2010 Moto2 title, but the second place spot is still up for grabs.
Simon has the advantage going into the weekend, leading Iannone by six points. But what Simon doesn't have, is a race win to his name this season. Simon has earned five second place finishes to earn the advantage heading into the final round, but Simon wants a win to finish off the season.
"To arrive in Valencia lying second in the Moto2 championship gives me a lot of strength," said Simon. "I am happy because we are getting to know the bike more and more but we just need to take that final step and win a race.”
"My objective is to tie up the runner-up spot in the championship by any means necessary. It has been a busy season for us but we have passed every test with flying colours and that is positive as we start to plan for 2011.
"Cheste is a circuit I like and we have plenty of data because we tested there not long ago. I won there last year too and I think all the factors are in place for us to have a top race on Sunday."
Andrea Iannone has three race wins this season, and will be looking for one more at Valencia. Iannone needs to gain 6 points on Simon to claim second place for the 2010 season.
