De Angelis Takes First Moto2 Win

bbc2010best-showbikeV2Alex de Angelis has been close to the top spot on the podium before, but today at Phillip Island the JIR rider took home his Moto2 maiden victory. De Angelis beat out Scott Redding and Andrea Iannone to claim his first-ever Moto2 win.

Scott Redding was also chasing his first Moto2 win, but had to settle with second place, which his best finish of the 2010 season.

Iannone was also in the hunt for the victory, but tire issues forced him to slow at the end of the race. Iannone would end up taking third place, his seventh podium finish of the 2010 season. Iannone's third place finish moves him within 2 points of Julian Simon, who finished fourth, and is currently in second place in the overall standings.

Behind Iannone, Stefan Bradl and Mike di Meglio completed an impressive weekend. Both riders had achieved their best qualifying positions, as well as their best finishing positions.

Toni Elias, who claimed the Moto2 championship last weekend, finished in seventh behind de Meglio.
