Alex de Angelis secured his first pole position of the 2010 Moto2 season today at Phillip Island, beating out Scott Redding, Stefan Bradl, and Mike di Meglio.
Scott Redding led for almost the entirety of the Moto2 qualifying session, but lost the top spot when de Angelis put in a late last lap, and pulled ahead of Redding by .23 seconds.
Redding may have missed out on his first ever pole position, but he did secure his fifth front row start in the last 6 races.
Bradl and Di Meglio also set impressive times on Phillip Island. Bradl equaled his best time by securing the third spot on the grid, and Di Meglio earned his best finish yet, be claiming his first front row start of the season.
Andrea Iannone, Julian Simon, Michael Ranseder, and Raffaele de Rosa will ride from the second row.
