Rolfo Wins, Elias Takes First Moto2 Title

There were two champions crowned today on the Sepang track. Jorge Lorenzo took third place in the MotoGP race today, giving him enough points to secure the 2010 MotoGP championship. Toni Elias finished in fourth for the Moto2 class, and claimed the first ever Moto2 title.

But Elias wasn't the only person celebrating at the end of the Moto2 race in Malaysia. Robert Rolfo was also elated with his first victory since 2004 when he won a race in the 250cc class. Alex de Angelis was also in the mood for celebration, as he took his first Moto2 podium of the season ahead of Andrea Iannone.

Julian Simon, who was the only rider who could have delayed Elias' inevitable Moto2 championship, finished out of the points as he crashed on lap 7.

With Simon on the sidelines, the Moto2 title was secured for Elias, but the Mapfre Aspar rider still battled for a spot on the podium with Iannone. Iannone was able to hold onto third in front of the newly crowned Moto2 champ, and at the front, Rolfo edged out de Angelis by .04 seconds for his first race Moto2 win.
