FIM Announces Provisional 2011 Moto2 Teams Hot

FIM_logoOn 30 September 2010, right before the Grand Prix of Japan at Motegi, the Moto2 Selection Committee met to discuss which teams will be invited to participate in the 2011 season. The Committee is made up of representatives from the FIM, Dorna and the IRTA. At this meeting the group considered applications from 36 teams who were vying for 61 open positions on the Moto2 grid.

Out of this impressive number only 15 teams with 29 total riders were accepted. Many of the hopefuls were turned down due to their participation in other classes or separate racing series. A rather small number of teams were placed on a secondary list and will be considered for the leftover slots or if an approved team has trouble meeting series requirements. A Moto2 team could be pulled off the accepted list if they were not able to choose a rider acceptable to the Committee or if they fail to pay their security deposit.

All teams on the following list have until 30 October to submit both the chosen riders and to submit the IRTA security deposit.

The Moto2 Grid for 2011:

  • Forward Racing
  • Gresini Racing
  • Interwetten Moriwaki Moto2 (One rider)
  • Jack & Jones by Antonio Banderas
  • JIR Moto2

  • MZ Motor
  • Racing Team By Quereseno
  • Speed Up
