Iannone Captures Pole at Aragon

moto2_iannoneAndrea Iannone was the fastest around the Aragon track today during the qualifying session for Moto2. The Italian secured his fifth pole position of the 2010 Moto2 season, and will go into tomorrow's race looking for his 3rd win.

Scott Redding was ready to take his first ever Moto2 pole position, but a last lap effort by Iannone saw Redding drop down to second by just .04 seconds. Redding may be disappointed that he missed out on the top spot, but he'll be pleased about his 3rd consecutive front row start.

Alex De Angelis was inches behind Redding, finishing in third by just five thousandths of a second. Julian Simon, who is currently in second place in the overall standings, finished in fourth today to complete the front row of the grid.

Simone Corsi took fifth after suffering a minor fall at the beginning of the session. He was followed by Claudio Corti, Gabor Talmasci, and Michele Pirro.

Toni Elias, who currently leads the series with am 83 point advantage, finished in 12th for the day. Despite finishing 12th, Elias was just .6 seconds off of Iannone's pace. Third place rider Thomas Luthi will start from the 20th spot on the grid tomorrow.
