The Moto2 series will be coming to Indianapolis this weekend for the Indy U.S. Grand Prix, and Toni Elias will look to build upon his 55 point lead in the series.
Elias has won the last two Moto2 races, and will be looking for his third in America.
“I like Indianapolis, it’s one of my favorite tracks,” said Elias. “We’ll see how the bike feels there. We must improve in wet conditions because we suffered a lot. The situation is good overall though. When I was a child I always liked America and it would be nice if in two weeks I could take a third-straight victory.”
Andrea Iannone sits in second in the overall standings, and has finished on the podium the last two times out. But Elias' biggest challenge could come from the Americans this weekend.
Kenny Noyes will be joined by Roger Lee Hayden and Jason DiSalvo as wildcard entries at Indy.
Noyes is having a successful rookie season in Moto2. Noyes has yet to find the podium, but he did earn his first pole position at the France GP.
Hayden is entering the Moto2 round at Indy, because it's the one World Championship he has yet to race in this year. Hayden has raced in the Daytona Sportbike, the World Superbike, and the MotoGP this year. He is hoping for a top ten finish in Moto2.
“The track is really nice. We’d like to get a top-10, which will be difficult. We’re going to have to do our best, riding my best ever. The bike’s going to have to be performing well, but that’s our goal.”
DiSalvo ended his tenure with Triumph in the World Supersport earlier this year, and will be looking for some redemption at Indy.
