Fonsi Nieto took the top spot during the first free practice session for the Moto2 series at the Czech Republic Grand Prix, but he didn't take it by much. Nieto finished just two-thousandths of a second ahead of Karel Abraham
Nieto did his session winning lap with just three minutes left to go, narrowly beating out Abraham's time, which stood for most of the session. Abraham set his time early in the session, but crashed out of contention with 25 minutes left in the session.
Shoya Tomizawa was another rider that saw the pavement, but Tomizawa was able to get back on his bike to set the third best time of the session.
Season leader Toni Elias was not allowed to participate in this morning's session at BRNO. Elias rode at Misano last weekend, breaking a Moto2 rule. He will be allowed to come back tomorrow for the second free practice session.
