Tomizawa Takes Wet FP1

moto2_tomizawaAs the rain started to fall, the Moto2 riders got ready for their first practice session around the Silverstone track. Shoya Tomizawa took the fastest time around the wet track, beating out Anthony West and Xavier Simeon.

Tomizawa, who is second in the overall standings, came in at 2'28.020 during FP1, a half a second ahead of West. Simeon, who is substituting for Yannic Guerra, was close behind, finishing just a tenth of a second behind West.

Season leader Toni Elias had a slow start to the weekend, coming in at 22nd, 3.3 seconds behind Tomizawa. Simone Corsi, who sits in third in the overall standings, didn't fair much better. Corsi finished just one spot ahead in 21st.
