The AMA, BSB, MotoGP, WSBK, and MX racers are all done for the 2011 season. As sad as that is, it also means that the 2012 Dakar Rally is almost here. The 2012 Dakar Rally will kick off on New Years Day, and the Husqvarna Rallye Team is ready for the challenge.
Close to 200 racers will be making the 5000 mile trip across South America this year. Marc Coma and Cyril Despres will likely be battling eachother at the front of the pack, but Husqvarna's David Fretigne and Paulo Goncalves are also aiming for the Dakar Championship.
The Husqvarna Rallye Team will be bringing five riders to the Dark this year to ride a rally racer based on the Husqvarna TE 449. Ike Klaumann, Joan Barreda, and Ze Helio will be joining Fretigne and Goncalves on the Husqvarna team.
The 2012 Dakar Rally begins January 1st and ends after 14 stages on January 15th.
