KTM is returning to MotoGP competition in 2012 with a three-rider Moto3 team. The Red Bull KTM Ajo Factory Racing team will feature Sandro Cortese and former Red Bull Rookies Arthur Sissis, and Danny Kent.
KTM has been testing its Moto3 engine since August and they are excited for the 2012 season.
Cortese will bring the most experience to the team. Cortese just completed a successful season in the 125cc class. Cortese took two wins, four podiums, and finished fourth overall in the championship.
Kent also has a year in the 125cc class. Kent took second during the 2012 Red Bull Rookies Cup and finished 11th overall during his rookie season in the 125cc class.
Sissis will be making his debut in the MotoGP. Sissis was a strong contender during the 2011 Red Bull season and will be looking to make a splash in 2012.
"We are very pleased to have a team manager of the high caliber of Aki Ajo in charge of KTM's Moto3 factory team," said Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsports manager.
Team owner Aki Ajo added:
"The new season should provide some very exciting races, and naturally as a KTM Factory Team we hope to be right at the front from the start. We have a strong package so our aim is to be at the top of the new class. This is going to be a learning season for everyone but for us this is a long-term project and each year we can gain more. First priority is to establish the operations in the new class during testing, and then to keep things well coordinated and running smoothly. I feel once we get the ball rolling, the results will come."
