The 2011 MotoGP season may be over, but motorcycle races like Valentino Rossi, Andrea Dovizioso, and Andrea Iannone, aren't quite done racing. The 2011 Monza Rally included riders from several racing disciplines.
There were 97 drivers on the historic Italian circuit, including, 8 World Rally championship winners, 5 European Rally championship winners, an IRC Rally title holder, 11 Italian Rally series winners, and 3 24 Hours of Le Mans winners. Valentino Rossi took second place during the Monza Rally behind Eight time world rally champion Sébastien Loeb.
Loeb won the three day, nine stage event in a Citroen DS3 WRC, and claimed the first Master Show / Marco Simoncelli Trophy (the award was given out to the winner of the final stage in memory of the late MotoGP rider).
Rossi didn't win the Simoncelli trophy, but he showed some four wheel skill in a race car sporting a tribute to his fallen friend. Rossi finished 24 seconds behind Loeb. Dindo Capello took third.
Fellow MotoGP rider, Andrea Doviozoso, finished mid-way in the pack with a 54th place finish. Claudio Corti took 60th and Andrea Iannone took 70th.
