All of the major brands were represented at the Bonneville Salt Flats, but only the Honda CBR1000RR can claim the title of world's fastest 1000cc production motorcycle. Piloted by Leslie Porterfield, the Honda bike consistently put in speeds over 200 mph.
Porterfield has been averaging speeds of 200mph on her Honda CBR1000RR for the last two years, and now officially holds the world's fastest title. Her new AMA national and FIM world record of 200.137mph is still pending the ratification process of the FIM.
"This bike is unbelievable," Porterfield said. "The excellent suspension from the factory helped me get traction on the salt. It also has an abundance of power!"
Despite holding the record, Porterfield still things that she can go faster on her Honda CBR1000RR.
"I really can't wait for next year," she added. "I know I can go faster on this bike!"
