Michael Dunlop got the best of Guy Martin during the first 1000cc race at the Southern 100 on the Isle of Man. But last night, Martin was able to turn the tables.
A close race was expected at the Isle of Man, and fans got exactly that. Martin took off from the pole position just like he did in race one, and was able to build up a nice lead in front of his competitors. But Dunlop started to reel Martin back in and by the last lap the two road racers were going into corners side by side. In the end, Martin was able to hold off a last second charge by Dunlop by .04 seconds.
Dunlop can still hold his head up high. Dunlop won the first race of the weekend, and also set a new lap record during last night's race. Dunlop lapped the course with an average speed of 112.393 mph.
Ryan Farquhar was able to hold off Conor Cummins for the final spot on the podium. Dan Kneen took the fifth place spot.
