Cory West wins Larry H. Miller Challenge, a support race for the stateside World Superbike race, on Pirelli tires
Press Release:
It’s All Glory for Cory in World Superbike Support GTU Race, which was dominated by Pirelli tires.
Tooele, Utah: Road racer Cory West won the inaugural Larry H. Miller Challenge GTU (LHMCGTU) race at Miller Motorsports Park. West took the win in this support race for the 2009 United States round of the World Superbike Championship, riding a Suzuki GSX-R600 fitted with a snazzy pair of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa DOT race tires, which performed with aplomb in the wet-to-drying-to-dry racing conditions.
Taking the inaugural second place in the inaugural LHMCGTU race was Taylor Knapp, also on a set of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa DOT race tires. Knapp crossed the finish line on his way to the podium 4.613 seconds behind race-winner West, in the somewhat confusing track conditions.
Fourth-place finish went to Jimmy Wood, also on a set of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa DOT race tires. With 36 riders competing in the inaugural you-know-what, making it a huge success for Miller Motorsports Park, the facility plans on making it a regular part of the World Superbike program for this United States round of the series, no longer needing to shop for motorcycle entertainments from other sanctioning bodies.
With Pirelli motorcycle tires dominating the GTU class, which is open to all tire manufacturers, Sunday’s likewise GTO race will determine if every class at MMP is to be won by a Pirelli shod motorcycle. While WSBK tire service is supplied by “World” Pirelli, the tire services for the GTU and GTO classes at MMP is provided by Pirelli West Coast race tire vendor, CT Racing, and the deft hands of Corey Neuer and Chris McGuire.
Pirelli Tire North America designs, develops, manufactures and markets tires for passenger vehicles in both the original equipment and replacement markets, as well as marketing tires for motorcycles and race cars.
